Still in taper mode here! Keeping it easy and letting the muscles calm down before next Sunday. There's been a lot of activity all over the place!
First, Frank's first Halloween! Frank is a classmate of mine from Ghana who we spent years wooing to come join our public policy doctoral program at UNC. He is an amazing wealth of information - one of the few people I know who could cite off any demographic-social science-related statistic. This is the longest he's lived outside of Ghana, so I had to introduce him to USA's fall favorites.
Like pumpkin carving:
Or, witnessing the Halloween craziness on Franklin Street (one of CH's claims to fame)!
 |
| Allegedly, tens of thousands flood Franklin St. every Halloween. |
Though Garima and Frank were under-costumed (and I warned them not to be "those people"!), we all enjoyed ourselves.
Saturday concluded my final long run as a FF mentor for the fall season. Crayola buddy AT prepared a scavenger hunt that was tricky (lotsa CH-related facts) and fun. Highlights from the run/competition:
 |
| In front of the hospital - posing in front of the public art. |
 |
| Runners as football players |
 |
| Muppets and historical markers! |
 |
| Public health as strength! |
Meanwhile, there's a ton of buzz about NYC (!!!) and Raleigh City of Oaks Marathon! Two of our muppet runners are hitting up the half in Raleigh and a ton of friends and +Oiselle birds are racing up NYC. Our Oiselle founder and CEO, Sally Bergesen, finished her full in 3:10 like it was no big deal! BQ, no big deal! Love it!
